GGPNC'S BILLBOARD PROPOSALS
In April 2009 the GGPNC
submitted an updated Community Impact Statement (CIS) to
highlight its letter of March 17,2009 outlining the GGPNC's
positions on various aspect of the proposed sign ordinance.
On August 7, 2009,
the
City Council passed a ban on new billboards including digital and
building enshrouding supergraphics. This replaced a 90 day moratorium
which might have been negated by an upcoming court decision. A more
comprensive proposed
Sign Ordinance is still in the works.
In December 2008, the
GGPNC submitted to the City Clerk a Community
Impact Statement
calling for approval of an interim moratorium on billboards, prompt
removal of illegal ones, notice of applications for any new billboards
in our area, a study of safety related concerns and action to identify
illegal billboards in our area based on the GGPNC survey originally
submitted in 2007.
GGPNC
Billboard Survey
In May 2007, GGPNC Planning Zoning & Historic
Preservation Committee member Frank Masi photographed and made a list
of all the billboards in the GGPNC area. The list and photos were
forwarded to the city in hopes they would determine which signs were
legal and had the proper permits and which were illegal. As of April
2009 we still don't know. Below are links to the list and the photos
which are numbered and correspond to the numbered information on the
list.
